Open Cleft Cave
Open Cleft Cave
By popular demand, we offer you this crevice cave for all aquarium inhabitants who like it cramped. The original form was a cave for Altolamprologus calvus, here repurposed as an open variant. Many small to medium-sized L-catfish like to hide in crevices, some also need this tightness for reproduction. In addition, the uneven surface of the caves provides a good basis for surface vegetation, which is often grazed by the catfish.
The crevice cavity can be placed in the aquarium both standing and lying down. Stacked horizontally, it is a great hiding place for small to medium-sized L-catfish, for example.
Like all our hiding places, this model is of course handmade from clay.
Application in the basin
When used upright, it is essential that there is a substrate into which the cave can be easily pressed in, otherwise it can easily tip over due to the ground-to-height ratio. Or you can support them with the help of, for example, stones or roots.
Size: approx. 11-12×11-12×3 cm

Very impressed on how realistic the caves looked and how nicely with my other take decor. Other sites did not have dark colored caves. A bit heavier than I expected, but that is probably do to the high quality of the materials. My only hesitation to purchasing the cave was due to both ends being open, others I looked at were closed on one end. I shoved some pieces of driftwood in the back so other cichlids can't enter, but enough to allow some water flow. Customer service was superb.
